Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Mandi

Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Mandi , is one of the peripheral institutes of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) under the Ministry of AYUSH. The institute initially started as a survey unit of CCRAS at Joginder Nagar (H.P.) in July, 1970 and upgraded into Regional Research Centre (Ay.) in 1972. In 1979, the institute was transferred from Joginder Nagar to Mandi town and in 1983 it was upgraded to the Regional Research Institute (Ay.) Mandi (HP). In March 2018, the institute was shifted from Mandi town to its own new building (then partially completed) at Jaral, Pandoh, Mandi. On March 02, 2024, the new institute building, Panchkarma Huts, Yog and Meditation Hall was inaugurated by Dr. Mahendrabhai Kalubhai Munjpara, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Women & Child Development.

The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute at Mandi, Pandoh, focuses on holistic wellness through research in Ayurveda & Botany, clinical services, and community outreach, ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare. It promotes a healthy lifestyle, supports key government initiatives, and fosters collaborations in research.
Mandate
To conduct Clinical Research focusing on nutritional disorders, respiratory disorders, Ayurveda dietetics, health care services, outreach activities such as Scheduled Caste Sub Plan-WCH, Medico-Ethno-Botanical Surveys, and any other assignment of national importance related to Research & Development in Ayurveda.
Vision
To scientifically validate and rationalize Ayurveda, making its treatments, prevention methods, and resources widely available and sustainable.
 Mission
To promote evidence-based research in Ayurveda for better health, become a leading research body, integrate modern science with traditional wisdom, and address major health challenges.
